Warpaint poster
Something new! A while ago, I posted about being selected to participate in the Australia-wide Jump Mentorship Program. I have always aimed in my career to head towards doing designs for music-related projects, and part of my mentorship with WBYK involves them setting projects for me that relate to music.
My first project was to design an Australian tour poster for Los Angeles indie band Warpaint. Their music takes a few listens to get to know, and the overall feeling is very dark, dreamy and hypnotizing (I recommend checking out their music! My favourite song is Undertow). To get that sprawling, atmospheric feeling in my illustration I tried something a bit different from my usual style and used blobby shapes of colour instead of outlining everything in black.
To do the Warpaint text, I painted it then scanned it in. It actually took longer than I thought to get the perfect letters!

Sneaky peek
A work-in-progress screenshot of what I'm currently working on. A bit different to my usual style, as there's no outlines and all the shapes are rather jagged.

KickstART Markets
Sarah's Dead Bears print set and phone cases |
My super-talented pals Sarah and Marika will be selling their creative products this Saturday 21st April at the KickstART Markets at the Perth Cultural Centre.
Hand-painted skate deck by Sarah |
Sarah has been hard at work painting, chopping and sewing her wares to sell at the markets. If you have a chance you should check out her one-of-a-kind painted skate decks, hand-made phone cases, landscape photos and graphic design prints (the 'Dead Bears' set is my fav!). She tells me that she admires the works of Sitnie, Naomi Hosking, Rona Green and Perth’s own Stormie Mills. If you like tattoo art, grafitti and skate deck art, check out her stall located across from the State Library of Western Australia. View her art online here.
Marika's Autumn-themed prints and letter sets |
Marika is another mad-talented illustrator/designer who is selling her goods this Saturday. An enthusiast for Scandinavian design, pancakes and pantone 551, Marika will be selling limited edition Autumn themed prints, notebooks, stickers and letter sets (her 'thank you' cards are too cute!). You can view more of her designs here.

Aseo
I love the incredible vector artworks by Philippine artist Vincent Rhafael Aseo. Aren't the vibrant colours and swirling linework just so amazing? Check out his website here.

Domestic Etch Growth & Decay
Domestic Etch cover illustration by Danny Brito |
Earlier this year, I posted about the Frankettes illustration I did for Domestic Etch Magazine. I received a copy of the mag in the post, and was super happy to see that the electric pink and green colours pop off the page!
The issue featured some interesting interviews with Danny Brito and Sam McKenzie. You can see a preview of the issue here.
